Rashaad Parker earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York College at Brockport in Communications and Afro-African American Studies. He has a master’s degree in Fine Arts and Arts Management from the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, NY. Rashaad is a filmmaker and photographer whose work focuses on the intersectionality between art and social justice activism. His artwork also uses Afro-futuristic mixed media that incorporates metals, found objects, videography, 16mm film, sound, sculpture, photo collage, digital images, and textiles.


Essayist: Lisa Maria Rickman

Lisa Maria Rickman, BSN, RN, @Sowolu, is a lifelong artist, writer and photographer who works on a wide array of projects that rely on her diverse skill set and interests. Her work often builds upon her passion for journalism, interviews, and research. Heavily influenced by her diverse upbringing and using strong research foundations, Lisa is drawn to participating in projects that explore identity, healthcare, and community. She is also a cardiac nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital where she strives to provide and promote ethical and equitable care for patients.
